About the Property

The Neighborhood

This 1000 sf, 2BR, 1BA quintessential red barn is the perfect escape to the country...wine country that is! Paso Style! Located in Templeton's highly desirable westside, this newly updated barn unit has easy access to all of Paso Robles Wine Country's top wineries. Just minutes from Turley Wine Cellars, Rotta, and Venteux Vineyards. Right off the 101, it has easy access to 46W and is just minutes to Trader Joe's and downtown Templeton.

The master bedroom features a king bed and the 2nd bedroom has a queen bed and is adorned with very stylist country chic decor and a desk (if you must work). This barn has excellent hi-speed Internet.

The open concept living space has a comfy couch and side chair with enough seating for 4. A 36" SmartTV (outfitted with Roku) is ready to stream all your favorite shows. Don't forget your Netflix account number! Open to the living room and kitchen, the dining area has a solid wood table with seating for 4. The kitchen is well-equipped with all the essentials to whip up some gourmet meals to pair with your latest Paso Wine acquisitions. A full-sized fridge, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven and plenty of serviceware add to the complement of kitchen gear.

The peninsula has four wooden stools for the guests to hang at while entertaining the chef.

Central heat and air conditioning, along with a large ceiling fan in the great room keep you comfortable year round.

Wake up to the rooster crowing, while sipping on a cup of coffee. Rock on the swing on the large deck while watching the sunrise. Or sip and savor a Paso blend to a beautiful sunset. This is true country livin'. Can't you just smell the bacon cookin'? Get a true respite from your busy city life and enjoy the country life and star-filled skies.

You could not be in a better, more central and convenient location to hit up some of Paso's most prestigious wineries on the famed Westside. You are just 3 minutes to downtown Templeton, 7 minutes to downtown Paso and 30 minutes to other Central Coast destinations: Cambria, Pismo Beach, and downtown San Luis Obispo. There is easy access to 101, which makes your day trips a breeze.

Trader Joe's is a half-mile away along with J & R Meats which offers local grass-fed beefs and other meats. In the same shopping plaza is Pier 46, the area's top fish market and restaurant and Merry Hill Coffee shop for you java junkies. In downtown Templeton is Nature's Touch Nursery & Harvest, a fully-organic grocery store with provisions from local farmers. Larger grocery stores include Albertson's and Food For Less, both about 7 miles in either direction off the 101.

For a small town, Templeton provides lots of eating out options. McPhee's is top on the list and perfect for that special occasion. Ian (McPhee) cooks up fantastic farm-to-table fare. Other local flavor includes AJ Spurs (Western flavor) and Jacks's (wood-fired cooked burgers, salads and lots of TVs for viewing sports). Enjoy a glass of wine and an appetizer or cheese platter at 15 Degrees Wine Bar before or after dinner. To start your day, you can't go wrong with Joe's for an All-American breakfast or The Kitchen for a bit more gourmet breakfast or lunch delicacies.

After you've exhausted the Templeton restaurants, the Paso restaurants are also outstanding. What's your pleasure: Italian, Irish, French, Mexican, Asian, Argentinean, Organic or Seafood? Paso has them all and more. There's even a new Speak Easy in town, called Eleven Twenty-Two. You're in wine and foodie heaven.

There is so much to do on the Central Coast. Of course there is wine tasting and wine events. But once the taste buds need a break, there are so many other activities near by. Golf anyone? Paso Robles Golf Course is a great course for the novice. The more serious golfer might try Hunter Ranch. There are a dozen other courses around the area as well. While the guys are golfing there are plenty of spas for the ladies for a day of beauty treatments. Take in a concert at the Vina Robles Amphitheater. There is not a bad seat in the gorgeous 2500 seat music venue. For the more adventurous types, there are plenty of hiking trails and a zip line to amp up the adrenaline.

Venture out to the local towns. Go antiquing in Cambria. Visit the Elephant Seals and Hearst Castle in San Simeon. Collect shells on Moonstone Beach. Drive an ATV on the beach at the Oceano Dunes. Check out the fantastic Farmer's Markets - Saturdays in downtown Templeton and Thursday nights in San Luis Obispo. Days of endless fun awaits you on the Central Coast.

We saw deer and hawks! ★★★★★

The location is perfect just a couple of minutes off the freeway and close to a shopping plaza with a trader Joe's. The area is very close to all of the vineyards in the area, the Field of Light at Sensorio, Morro Bay, and the PCH. The place was clean and the porch was a nice place to relax and see the sun go down. we saw deer and hawks and the chickens from the farm.

Enjoyed every minute of our stay! ★★★★★

A little peace and quiet what just what we needed at this Barnhouse Loft experience. This place was comfortable and provided all the creature comforts necessary for kicking back and relaxing. Beds were inviting and added to long restful nights. The kitchen provided just what we needed for a few great meals when we weren't looking for gourmet haunts in Paso or Cambria. The most fun we had though was greeting the chickens and roosters at sunrise. They were a regular visit to the yard beneath us, and seemed glad that we were there. All in all, this was a much needed getaway for our family, and we enjoyed every minute of our stay.

Fun experience with a farm feel! ★★★★★

This was a very unique property to stay in. It is a renovated barn made into a very comfortable little getaway. The roosters and hens from across the dirt road like to come onto the grass in the morning and cluck away. It makes for a fun experience with a farm feel, but the drawbacks are the roosters would wake up our son and they would poop quite a bit on the lawn and a bit on the cement. If you can look passed those few cons, I feel the pros outweigh them. It's relaxing and quiet at night. We spotted deer in the evenings. The bedrooms were comfortable. It looks like there might have been some changes to the furniture from what was pictured, but it still looks nice. All in all, it was a good time.

beautiful country views from all the windows! ★★★★★

My family had a great week. The unit has beautiful country views from all the windows, their is a BBQ and large outdoor dining area for eating outdoors or to enjoy the beautiful evening skys. Everything deserves 5 stars with the only acceptation that some of the furniture needs to be replaced. One of the beds is great and feels like it's brand new, and the trundle also is very good, but the other bed sags terribly and needs to be replaced (and I'm just normal size). The cushions on the dining chairs also need to be replaced since you feel the wood frame when seated. If those items are addressed I'd stay here again next year since all the other aspects of the unit are great.

Highly reccomend! ★★★★★

Nicely secluded in a quiet private neighborhood. We saw cows and chickens right outside the barn, so that's pretty cool. Can see the stars from the patio. Highly recommended.

Perfection! ★★★★★
Perfection. I've never been to an Airbnb so clean, especially one that's dog friendly. The location was gorgeous: amazing sunsets and beautiful starry nights. The bed was SO comfortable and overall the place was amazing. Lots of wildlife just far enough away to look at fondly. My partner and I kept looking at each other and saying: can't believe we're here.

The rental shares an address with the owners property, but is situated privately and we had plenty of our own space. We enjoyed watching the sunset and greeting the deer in the morning. I’d recommend this listing.

Everything we needed to relax! ★★★★★

Everything we needed to relax during Spring break - Quiet solitude surrounded by nature with beautiful sunsets and peaceful mornings. Great Location: not too far from grocery stores, beaches, wineries, and San Luis Obispo. Appreciate their Red notebook listing out local services, (hospital, fire), restaurants, wineries, stores. Added bonus was having our furry child accompany us on vacation and enjoy walking around this wonderful farming community. If you want to catch up on movies, don't forget to bring your log on credentiala for Netflix, Hulu, etc. Very pleased with the accomodations. Highly recommend to stay and hope to return back. Thank you Kathy/Templeton for a wonderful respite!

Enjoyed our time there immensely! ★★★★★

Our family went to the Red Barn during my middle school son's spring break. We were within about a half hour or less from all of our destinations around the Central Coast and Paso Robles wine country, and enjoyed our time there immensely. The rental itself was excellent, comfortable in a quiet area while close to important amenities, such as Trader Joe's. A quiet, relaxing place.

Clean & Comfortable ★★★★★
Overall a very nice stay! This is a great property for feeling like you're getting away from it all, without actually being too far away. Hiking and other activities are close by, as are services like groceries and restaurants. A short driving distance from US-101 for easy access to local activities and attractions. The property itself is clean and comfortable, but not fancy. I would definitely consider staying here again the next time I'm in the area. One thing to note - the tap water in this area is quite hard. Those with sensitive skin should prepare accordingly.

Very Private! ★★★★

“We had a very good and relaxing time at the red barn. We enjoyed it’s close proximity to local attractions, yet seclusion from everyone else especially given the current circumstances. The place felt very private. Communication with the host was easy and she was very responsive. We saw the owners that live in the main building once or twice and they were friendly. There is a Trader Joe’s very nearby that comes very handy. The only reason we don’t give this place a higher rating is because basic amenities that most other places have such as coffee, sugar, salt, oil etc. were not included. Overall, we had a good experience.”

Great location - close to wineries! ★★★★★

Enjoyed our stay in the red barn loft. Great location - close to wineries and not far from Paso Robles. Very clean and comfortable house and quiet neighborhood with great views. We were concerned about the rooster in the description, but only heard him once during our stay - and it wasn't even that loud. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again on future trips to Paso Robles. Kathleen was very responsive with great communication.

Great Spot! ★★★★★

Delighted to be one of the first to review this great spot. Nestled at the end of a "no outlet" residential road right off the 101, we had no problems finding the Red Barn after dark - thanks to Waze! 🙂 Very convenient for any Paso Robles area exploring, the barn features a comfortable open space, with plenty of room and a real private feel. Neighborhood kids were friendly too. WiFi worked great (once I found the code on the kitchen message board over by the refrigerator) and Kathleen was quick on communication responses. I love the "no key" key pad method for entry wherever we stay and it worked great for this visit. Would highly consider as a Paso Robles residence for our next visit to the area.
